Up for a road trip?
Traveling north for Put-in-Bay, Monsoon Lagoon Water Park, Port Clinton’s African Wildlife Safari, Liberty Aviation Museum, Cedar Point, South Bass Island, or a trip to Lake Erie?
Need a spot to break up that trip, or are you a will-travel-for-great-food person?
Look no further than the Dark Horse Restaurant in Findlay, Ohio.
Customer reviews online piqued my curiosity about the Dark Horse and their claim to be the BBIT, Best Breakfast In Town, while also serving salivating-worthy lunch and dinner sealed the deal for the location of my next food blog. Can one restaurant be phenomenal across all three meals?
Full disclaimer, the outside of the Dark Horse is nothing to write home about. At first glance, it’s a drive-by. In fact, it’s reminiscent of many local eateries, and you may be tempted to continue your travels.
Stop right there!
The unassuming outside is part of the Dark Horse’s charm. Upon entering you feel you received an exclusive invite, like only those who are ‘in the know’ realize what awaits inside.
From the kids’ breakfast menus that are top-notch quality and include drinks (many restaurants leave drinks off the kids’ menu prices, which adds to the sticker shock when parents pay the bill and didn’t realize each kiddo’s beverage was $1.99, so I greatly appreciated the beverage included in the price) to breakfast items like homemade orange bread, think creamsicle with icing, to breakfast pizza and potato skins to mouth-watering burgers and crazy generous salads to complimentary rolls, their food makes you feel like you’ve experienced a touch of culinary heaven… the culinary heaven that’s run by the world’s greatest grill masters and oven extraordinaires.
There’s an interesting feeling you experience at the Dark Horse. The humble outside married with the elevated food pairings and flavors of the inside make you feel incredibly thankful you stopped for a bite.
But equally important to the food, is the staff. The Dark Horse’s hospitality is top of the class. (Hi, Danielle!) While I was there, a car accident happened near the restaurant, and not only did the staff call 9-11 and run ice out to the scene without being asked, they made sure all their customers continued their meals without skipping a beat.
In my eyes, the Dark Horse is a Triple Crown Winner: Food, Service, & Repeat-Customer-Worthy.
I can’t wait to go back for more!
Love yourself & others,
E
