516 S. Main St., Findlay, Ohio
First Impressions
On a gorgeous sunny day, my youngest child and I took a stroll down Findlay, Ohio’s Main Street. We had every intention of finding a certain coffee shop that we hoped had hot chocolate, but our eyes found the cracked egg logo of Scramblers instead.
Like the cartoon character, Pepé Le Pew, who can’t resist the scent of perfume and follows it without a care in the world, we did an about-face and crossed the street to get a closer look at the restaurant.
The first sign I read inside Scramblers said, ‘freshly brewed,’ ‘cracked by hand,’ ‘bottomless griddle,’ and ‘homemade.’ Top those words with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the hustle and bustle of Main Street, and you have an ear-to-ear smile within the first minute of this food blogger’s visit.
A Step Inside
Although I’d use the phrase ‘upscale diner,’ I’d still use the word diner. But like the cast of Friends had Central Perk and the cast of Seinfeld had Tom’s Restaurant, we all need that place we can go to every day that doesn’t break the bank, isn’t too stuffy, and feels like home— this is Scramblers.
With wood-inspired floors, spaciousness, booths, tables, a well-thought-out menu, and a pleasant staff, Scramblers is a tasty addition to the Positively Delicious food blog journey.
The Menu
To everyone with children and grandchildren, you already know that a restaurant having a kid’s menu is a make it or break it moment. Well, with a Kiddie Korner menu that features everything from KIDDIE KAKES for $3.99 to even CHICKEN TENDERS for $4.99 (for those kiddos who aren’t in the breakfast mood), children are sure to be pleased with their options.
While my daughter colored her astronaut-themed kid’s menu, my eyes widened as I read the ingredients of the CHICKEN FAJITA, SOTHWEST FRITTATA, UNCLE MOOSE’S MANHANDLER SKILLET, STEAK & EGGS, TOAST OF FRANCE, VEGGIE QUINOA, CRAB CAKE BENNY, OPEN-FACED SMOTHERED CROISSANT, CHICKEN & WAFFLES, ANGUS CHEESEBURGER, TRIPLE DECKER BLT, MONTE CRISTO, and FIESTA CHICKEN SALAD.
As always, I asked my waitress what the number one ordered item was and went with that— the MADE TO ORDER AWESOME AVOCADO OMELETTE.
I was not disappointed.
The Awesome Avocado was as wide as my plate, and it is, to date, the best omelet I’ve had in my life.
Final Thoughts
I can eat breakfast food multiple times of day and at any time of the day, so I know my way around an omelet. And Scramblers produced an incredibly fresh and well-balanced-in-seasoning omelet that I would take a road trip for any day— it really did feel special.
Scramblers’ comfortable dining atmosphere means you don’t have to worry about bringing children practicing life without sippy cups. Run into Scramblers in your tennis shoes, stop by after a workout, ride there on your motorcycle, or have a date with your daughter, like me. There are breakfast options for us breakfast-lovers and there are lunch options for those who aren’t hypnotized by a sizzle cast iron skillet and farm fresh eggs.
